Virginia Mason Memorial Respiratory Therapist (Certified or Registered) in Yakima, Washington

ROLE SUMMARY

The Respiratory Therapist sets up and operates various types of respiratory care equipment in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease and/or illness.

Essential Responsibilities, include:

  1. Assesses and evaluates patients to implement therapist-driven protocols, as clinically and medically appropriate.

  2. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures inclusive of, but not limited to, pulmonary function studies, bronchoscopies, and oximetry per department policies.

  3. Conducts Physician prescribed treatments to include, but not limited to, continuous and intermittent aerosols, administration of oxygen and various medical vapors and gasses, chest therapy involving percussion, postural drainage, and suctioning according to department policies.

  4. Documents all pertinent information re: the treatment, patient response to treatment, and any patient instructions given on Respiratory Therapy Charting records, according to department policy.

  5. Maintains a high level of expertise in CPR, NRP, ACLS, and PALS.

  6. Maintains respiratory systems in critical situations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Registered RT -

Education: Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program required.

Experience: Three years' experience in the field preferred. Ability to draw ABGs preferred.

Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Washington State (DOH) Respiratory Care Practitioner License required. American Heart Association BLS required. ACLS, PALS, NRP preferred, and required within 1 year.

Certified RT -
