Virginia Mason Memorial Respiratory Care Assistant in Yakima, Washington
All staff members at Yakima Valley Memorial must be in compliance with the Vaccination Policy, which includes the COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccine, by their first day of employment.
Accurately enters patient billing information as provided by department therapists. Accurately anticipates orders and maintains appropriate respiratory supply levels. Assists with the assembly and maintenance of equipment for all age ranges as previously initiated by the Respiratory Therapist. Assists Respiratory Therapy team as needed, and assists with patient transports.
Makes oxygen rounds on patients once per shift with exception of Pediatrics and NICU. Checks SP02 and liter flow/FI02 to orders, documents on patient and department records. Reports results to therapists per guidelines.
Documents non-functioning or damaged equipment.
Orients and educates patients in use of incentive spirometry.
Assists in bronchoscopies as needed.
Processes specimens as needed.
Organizes pre-procedure areas and cleans post procedure.
Participates in in-service education and department meetings as required.
Maintain accuracy in documentation and communication.
Participates in annual safety in-service covering chemical safety, electrical safety, fire safety, and biohazardous safety.
Utilizes supplies and equipment adequately.
Performs accurate data entry for billing purposes.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
Experience: Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Licenses/Certificates/Registration: American Heart Association BLS required. Washington State (DOH) Nursing Assistant Certification preferred.
