Virginia Mason Memorial Registered Nurse (RN) - Moderate Sedation in Yakima, Washington

We are looking for an RN to join our Moderate Sedation Team at Yakima Valley Memorial The Moderate Sedation RN provides patient-centered care by administering procedural moderate sedation for a variety of case types. The Moderate Sedation RN is an autonomous role in which you care for the patient from prep-op through discharge home. The Moderate Sedation RN works in a fast paced critical care environment that offers a unique variety of patient care opportunities.

RNs in Surgical Services at Yakima Valley Memorial enjoy support from a 24-hour Lift Team, 24-hour Respiratory Team, Pharmacy (24-hour med mixing), Social Workers and Chaplains so you can focus on providing the very best care to your patients.

ROLE SUMMARY The Moderate Sedation RN assists in procedures by providing moderate sedation for a variety of case types including, but not limited to: Gastroenterology, Radiology, Cardiology and Pulmonology.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES, include: 1. Admits patients and reviews their charts per department standard processes in preparation for moderate sedation procedures. 2. Assists in procedures by administering moderate sedation medications and observing patients to achieve the optimal sedation level while maintaining patient safety. 3. Recovers patients following the procedure and delivers patient education upon discharge. 4. Is expected to work in all areas of Surgical Services as part of our global staffing model.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Education: Associate's degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred. Experience: Previous acute care or moderate sedation experience preferred. License/Certification/Registration: Washington State DOH Registered Nursing licensure required. American Heart Association BLS required until certified in ACLS and PACLS. ACLS and PALS required within 60 days of hire. Additional Requirements: Call requirements with a 20-minute response time required for Part- and Full-Time staff members.
