Overview:

There is one Engineering Technician III opening with the Yakima County Traffic Division. This position serves as a technical representative for County Road's within the County Development Review System, reviews road approach applications, short plats, long plats and engineering documents for private developments for compliance with County Design Standards, assists the Planning Division in reviewing applications for Land Use Actions; and provides technical information to the public.

Responsibilities:

Assumes large project level responsibility for the County Roads Development Review functions as directed.  Monitors compliance with Development Review System (DRS) operations and designs and ensures that Project Review time frames are met.

 

Reviews policies and resolutions relating to County Roads Development Review processes and recommends changes as needed to ensure consistency with the objectives of the DRS process.

Represents Yakima County Roads in the perpetual review and adjusting of standard operating procedures to increase customer service and efficiency while ensuring that changes in operational procedures do not have unintended negative effects on other local agency procedures. Also ensures that changes in other local agency procedures do not negatively impact the operational procedures of Yakima County Roads.

Attends meetings with project applicants to resolve problems that arise during the Development Review Process.

Represents Traffic Division in EAC (Early Assistance Review meetings with Water Resources, Planning and Building and Fire to ensure projects design and compliance.

Provides cross-training in the areas of development review and access management to other members of the transportation division.

 

Reviews Developer / Consultant Engineering Road Plan proposals for conformance to County Requirements. Requests for additional information from the Developer / Consulting Engineer to address impact mitigation which may include the request for a traffic impact analysis. Coordinate with Developer / Engineering to provide a scope of study to address specific project concerns. Reviews finding of the TIA to ensure adequate mitigation measures are conditions of project approval. Oversees the completion of mitigation requirements.  

 

Reviews Land Use Actions for inputs to County Road Facilities including:  Facilities include everything in the County Road right of way to include utilities, drainage, curb, gutter, sidewalks, lighting. Processes roadway permits in conjunction with the land use permits. Provides information, guidance and instruction to applicants and roadside inspectors regarding location
