ROLE SUMMARY Discovers, describes, diagnoses, predicts, and solves complex problems through the creation and use of analytic systems and visualization techniques. Uses statistical modeling, data mining and visualization techniques to create value that improves patient care. Creates and integrates large data sets into useable, actionable information. The Principal Data Scientist - Analytics and Visualization Specialist builds and supports data manipulation, processing, and visualization methods and shares these tools and techniques to help enable high quality data analytic and visualization systems across the Enterprise. Performs advanced statistical analyses by selecting and using appropriate parametric and non-parametric tests to support data driven decision making. This position works with a high degree of independence to assess Enterprise data and analytic needs and produce data and visualization systems to improving strategic and operational performance. Analysis and metrics include but are not limited to: population health analysis, disease state assessments, clinical and financial performance and provider metrics. This person will have a unique opportunity to design and implement data visualization tools in support of health care initiatives. They will have exceptional analytic, statistical, and visualization skills. The employee will learn and understand SignalHealth clinically integrated performance metrics and present the results through a user-friendly web portal. Expertise in the effective design of systems and presentation/visualization of data/findings is critical. Employee will use Business Intelligence Tools and SQL data bases. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Analytic and Measurement
Designs and creates systems to support the analysis of network clinical, operational, and financial metrics.
Serves as a department consultant to help staff and managers determine and apply appropriate statistical tests to guide scientific, fact-based decision making using statistical software, databases, and scripting languages.
Works network partners and administrators to identify, extract, and analyze data to meet performance improvement measures and regulatory reporting requirements.
Works with staff and providers to identify required data/reporting solutions and deliver efficient and actionable results.
Identification, use and visualization of performance measures. 1. Identifies and develops methods to deliver visualization of performance measures. These performance measures include but are not limited to the following areas: clinical, financial efficiency, progress towards strategic goals, patient safety and patient satisfaction. 2. Recognizes opportunities to visually depict data for use in performance metrics. Serves as an Enterprise consultant to create useful, creative, and appropriate data visualizations. 3. Designs and produces dashboards where performance metrics are automatically updated and displayed on a routine basis. 4. Develops processes that increase automated data updates and presentation efficiency. 5. Develops techniques to ensure data quality throughout the lifecycle of the data. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science or related field required. Master’s degree preferred. Equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of degree. Experience: Experience with the design of data analysis, extraction, and visualization systems using statistical software (R, S-Plus, SAS, or similar), databases, and programming languages (such as SQL, Python, R) preferred.
