Aerotek PLC Automation Technician in Yakima, Washington


Automation Technician is an integral part of the company’s supply and support network. You will be responsible for developing PLC and HMI programs, testing system efficiency, machines installation and commissioning, customer technical support, troubleshooting of electrical and automation issues.

Assist with scope, specifications and design of projects and automation solutions

Develop PLC programs and Human Machine Interface (SCADA Wonderware indusoft and touchscreens)

Study and interpret blue print layouts from our engineering department, electrical drawings and diagrams using AutoCAD software, make modifications to electrical diagrams when necessary

Develop and configure networks such as IO-Link, Ethernet IP, ASi, CompoBus, etc…

Drawing Network layouts (Ethernet IP) using AutoCAD software

Program VFD inverters and servo drives for motor controls, configure barcode readers and other sensors

Program safety controllers to guarantee safe interaction between operators, site staff and machinery

Monitor and report on the status and progress of work

Write technical documentation (manuals for internal or external use)

Test automated systems for efficiency, safety, and reliability

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in computer science end electronics engineering, or PLC and electrical engineering. Equivalent qualification combined with relevant work experience gained in the manufacture, installation, configuration or commissioning of automated equipment would also be considered.PLC and HMI programming skills using different programming languages

Knowledge of CAD environment (AutoCAD) and ability to interpret electrical diagrams

Understanding industrial network structures (Ethernet IP and other field bus networks)

Strong problem solving, diagnostic, troubleshooting, decision making skills and analytical skills

Strong computer skills in order to analyze, organize and present data and information using Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, Excel)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English fluent), able to work as part of a team and interface well with customers and suppliers
