Valid medical or religious exemptions will be considered, but serial COVID-19 testing will be required to maintain employment.Provides pediatric dental care to clinic patients.Essential Functions/Responsibilities/DutiesPerforms all phases of direct pediatric dental care on patients including extractions, restorations, and prosthetics.Performs patient examinations to assess oral health ensuring exam details are captured including position of teeth, fillings, bone supports, existing dentition, dental caries, existing restorations, occlusal relationships, dental development, and the condition of the periodontium.Formulates and discusses treatment plans based on patient's financial situation and physical needs.Diagnoses and treats pathological conditions and prescribes medications as needed.Maintains complete and accurate Electronic Dental Record (EDR) documentation.Works on community oral health and clinic projects as assigned by Chief Dental Officer (CDO).Assists in evaluation and ensures quality control techniques utilization as outlined in the Quality Assurance procedures.Assists in the evaluation of Hygienists, Dental Assistants, and dental support staff.May serve as pediatric Dental Residency faculty including clinical and didactic instruction, resident classes review, mentoring residents, supervising resident research, and evaluating residents.Serves as "Affiliate in Practice" faculty and mentors assigned dental students with two to four week rotations.Collaborates with local Dental Leadership to monitor activities of the assigned visiting Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic (YVFWC) Dental Assistants.Performs other duties as assigned.Performs clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and YVFWC requirements.Lead Dentist Duties (only if assigned):Acts as liaison between the CDO, Clinic Director, and Dental Clinic staff. Informs the CDO of relevant professional and technical issues in the clinics.Supervises and evaluates the Hygienist's clinical performance.Ensures Quality Assurance (QA) evaluations and reports are completed in a timely manner.Serves on the clinic's Dental Leadership Team. Leads the implementation and execution of the strategies and goals developed by the Dental Leadership Team.Collaborates with Clinic Director to set expectations for dental staff, resolve issues, and enact measures to improve the dental clinic's productivity, efficiency, and quality.QUALIFICATIONSGraduate of a School of Dentistry.Graduate of a Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) pediatric dental residency.About YVFWCWe serve more than 181,000 patients across 25 medical clinics, 14 dental clinics, 10 pharmacies, and 64 program sites in two states.
