The Yakima School District is looking to hire a Payroll Coordinator!

As a Payroll Coordinator, you will process payroll for all assigned personnel for the Yakima School District. This position also receives and verifies annual salary and benefits for assigned employees and onboards new staff with payroll forms. You will work closely with Human Resources regarding contracts for assigned employee groups and leave to identify and solve employee contract issues. This role is ideal for someone with experience in payroll processing, accounting, and financial reporting.
A snapshot on how your day will look like as a Payroll Coordinator:
- This position also will act as the liaison between the Tax-Sheltered Annuity vendors, the employees, and the district. Maintain current knowledge of Tax-Sheltered Annuity laws, reporting methods and eligibility requirements. Provide information and assistance to employees. Prepares and analyzes monthly payment submittals to vendors.
- Calculates time loss of L&I payments for the purposes of adjusting employee's sick leave balances.
- This position assists employees with enrollment and information related to School Employee's Benefit Board (SEBB) regarding benefits. Monitors employee eligibility of benefit coverage. Accurately tracks employee benefits coverage changes to allow for vendor reconciliation and employee payments. Is a liaison with the SEBB and district employee to troubleshoot benefit coverage and system problems.
- Process and maintain billing information for all payroll vendors monthly.
- Process timesheets through the electronic timesheet system.
- Processes and performs legal, confidential research, and works on a variety of special projects as needed.
Overview of the Benefits:
- Annual Vacation -- 10-20 days per year based upon years of service
- Sick Leave Days -- 12 days per year
- Family Illness Leave -- 3 days with pay per year cumulative to 10 days
- Personal Leave Days -- 2 per year maximum of 7
- Bereavement Leave -- Immediate family 5 days with pay
- VEBA III -- Funded with sick leave cash out or sick leave balance at retirement at 4:1
- Retirement -- District/Employee funded through Department of Retirement Systems
- Medical/Dental/Vision/RX -- District provided for employee only. Dependents covered at employee expense.
