Virginia Mason Memorial Patient Access Representative II in Yakima, Washington
With continual and direct patient contact, the Patient Access Representative II performs diversified tasks and duties associated with registrations in the Emergency Department and Main Entrance (Admitting) areas. Collects demographics, obtains signatures, collects insurance information and utilizes critical thinking skills for insurance allocation.
Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with all patients, customers, and members of the health care team providing knowledgeable and professional communication.
Consistently complies with state and federal regulations; obtain appropriate signatures, completes all required forms, and provide patient information as required. Communicates with third parties to coordinate hospital services.
Performs and obtains payer financial coverage.
Collects co-pay, deductibles, deposits and payments due and/or arranges for payment plans with each patient. Reviews and discusses all patient financial responsibility at the appropriate time in the admission/registration process.
Communicates and coordinates with all departments, medical offices, healthcare facilities and all other entities for patient services and information.
Completes forms and applications. Documents accurately and in a timely manner.
Actively attends department staff meetings and required educational opportunities
Meets Quality Assurance benchmarks, completes daily work list, self corrects errors, participates in audits and performance improvement projects.
May cross-train in other areas within the department when necessary as well as perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
Experience: Insurance verification experience preferred. Previous Hospital patient access experience highly preferred.
Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist (CRCS) certification preferred.
Level of Business Knowledge/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Medical terminology/Clerical/excellent Customer Service required. Knowledge of Government Programs, insurance, and healthcare compliance preferred.
