Summary This is a Washington Army National Guard Title 32 Excepted Service Non-Bargaining Unit Technician position: MATERIALS HANDLER SUPERVISOR Location: Washington Maneuver Area Training Equipment Site YAKIMA, Washington 98901 Army National Guard Units Appointment Type: Permanent, excepted service Advertised as: ENLISTED/WARRANT OFFICER This announcement may be used to fill one or more vacancies. Responsibilities A WS-6907-6, MATERIALS HANDLER SUPERVISOR: Plans weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations. Establishes deadlines and priorities based on established general schedules, methods and policies. Determines skills, materials and equipment required to do the work. Participates in the initial planning of current and future work schedules and development of budget requests. Assigns tasks to be performed. Explains work requirements, methods, and procedures. Instructs subordinates on new procedures or methods and provides assistance on difficult or new problem areas. Notes and investigates work related problems and independently implements corrective actions which can be taken without affecting work operations controlled by other supervisors. Recommends and participates in the selection of personnel to fill vacancies. Schedules and approves leave of subordinates. Sets performance requirements and makes formal and informal performance appraisals. Determines training needs of subordinates and arranges for its accomplishment. Initiates proposals for disciplinary action where needed. Promotes the participation of subordinates in programs such as the suggestion program, cost reduction program, etc. Maintains production reports and records. Periodically reviews position descriptions of subordinates for currency and accuracy. Initiates or participates in review and improvement of work methods, organizational features, and the structuring of positions to eliminate unnecessary positions and achieve optimum content in those remaining. Implements regulatory safety requirements and ensures that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Military Grades: E6-E9, CW1-CW4 Compatible Military Assignments: CMF-12, 28, 88, 91, 92, 94, 913A, 914A, 915A, 919A, 920A, 920B - Applicants need not be assigned to the position or possess the MOS to apply or be considered for selection. Selected applicant must be assigned to a compatible Military position and attain MOS within 1 year of appointment action. - Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. - All soldiers, civilian employees, and contractor employees who drive Army-owned or leased vehicles must complete the Army Avoidance Course (AAC) training when they start working for the Army. Must have a valid Washington state and military driver's license. Must be able to obtain a Government Travel Card (GTC) and be able to attend all schools deemed necessary by the supervisor. - Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. - Must maintain membership in the WA Army National Guard for continued employment. - Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. -This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. - Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. - Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. ?-The duties and responsibilities of your job may significantly impact the environment. You are responsible to maintain awareness of your environmental responsibilities as dictated by legal and regulatory requirements, your organization, and its changing mission. -Must be a member in good standing, of the Army National Guard* Must have current Washington Driver's license. Must have or be able to attain a government travel card. Must attend and successfully complete, all schools deemed necessary for the position. Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WS-06 - Must have at least 36 months experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. Education Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED. Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: Not Applicable. To receive credit for Education, you must provide transcripts or other documentation of proof to support your Educational claims. Acceptance of a Technician position will terminate these incentives. - Military Technicians in the excepted service will wear the appropriate uniform while performing as a Technician. - Veteran's preference does not apply to National Guard Technician positions in accordance with Title 32 USC 709 (f).
