General Summary

Under the direction of 2-1-1 management, the Information and Referral Specialist will fill a critical role to provide time-sensitive information and referral to the community during times of increased demands for public health information or during an emergency or disaster.  This position requires a caring and compassionate individual who will provide confidential, appropriate, unbiased health and social service information, referral and advocacy to the general public by telephone, text and email. The I&R Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment where training will be on-going as additional information and resources become available.

Essential Function and Duties:

Respond to telephone inquiries concerning the availability of services provided by public or community resources.

Provide specific, up-to-date and factual public health information per training and scripting.

Provide specific and detailed information to the public about accessing public and private community resources for health and social services.

Screen callers for services; refer to appropriate resource; and advocate for caller to secure services from public and private community agencies as nee
