Shipping Clerk and Back Up Driver Job Overview Title: Shipping Clerk and Back Up Driver Reports to: Sr. Operations Manager Location: Kent, WA Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt (hourly) Schedule: This Position is for an adjusted 1st Shift: 5:30 A.M. to 2:00 P.M, Monday - Friday. Hytek production is open 24 hours per day. All shifts are as follows: 1st shift (Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (Monday - Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.), 3rd shift (Sunday - Friday, 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.) Job Summary Employees in this position will perform a combination of internal and external shipping duties. They work as a key member of the internal shipping team sending out domestic and international shipments per customer specifications. This individual will be a backup Box Truck Driver, with less than 5% of the time. Additional support includes Receiving and Packaging as needed. Responsibilities Ships packages via vendors such as UPS, Fed Ex, etc. through vendor software/portals per customer instructions and directions. Prioritizes and processes orders from Certs department; verifies documentation is complete and places orders in the proper area for shipping via Hytek truck or common carrier. Scans travelers, certifications, and shipping documentation into Syteline ERP system. Creates Bill of Lading, commercial invoices, and export documentation as required and per Hytek's shipping process. Completes international shipments through export compliance software; works with Customer Service, Trade Compliance, and Packaging Departments to ensure compliance with Trade Compliance. Assist will Call Customers including loading truck as required. Legibly sign off on work once completed. Operate Forklift as required. Serve as a backup Route Driver to support deliveries as required. Be familiar with the safety precautions & know how to avoid injury to personnel. Actively participate in continuous improvement activities to drive positive change in productivity, delivery, and service. Be involved in Kaizen events as needed either as a participant or supporter. Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Computer proficiency with the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and other PPE based upon requirements in working area. Ability to have a valid driver's license and able to meet Hytek's driver requirements. Ability to operator a forklift and hold current forklift certification. Knowledge of international shipping procedures related to EAR and ITAR regulations. Demonstrated ability to train and positively influence others. Must be a self-starter, able to work both independently, as a team, and with customers (both internally and externally). Excellent accuracy with a strong attention to detail. Ability to solve tactical and strategic problems and issues arising in this position. Ability to learn and use Lean Tools and techniques to solve tactical and strategic problems and issues arising in this position. Ability to multitask effectively. Must have a regular and dependable attendance record. Ability to Read/Write Communicate in English with Customers and auditors. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. An export license will be required to work in all areas of the facility. Education/Previous Experience Requirements 1-2 years in manufacturing environment a plus. Valid driver's license and able to meet Hytek's driver requirements. Forklift certification. SyteLine ERP System experience a plus. OCR export compliance software experience a plus. Essential Mental/
