Blue Origin LLC Materials & Processes Engineer III - Coatings Engineering in Woodmont Beach, Washington

As part of a small, rapidly evolving team, you'll be responsible for materials and process engineering tasks related to the selection, design, and manufacturing of the New Glenn system. These tasks include supporting design for producibility and manufacturability as well as materials selection and characterization.Responsibilities:Work with cross-functional teams that are responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and suppliers to produce world class aerospace hardwareCollaborate closely with design, manufacturing and quality to define material requirements and successfully implement production solutions pertaining to:TopcoatsPrimersESD/EMI CoatingsWear and Abrasion Resistant FinishesSpecialty CoatingsDevelop and define internal engineering and quality processes to standardize and accelerate material evaluation and implementationEnsure M&P design requirements are met through the review and refinement of part designs, drawings and manufacturing controlsQualifications:B.S. degree or higher in chemical engineering, materials science & engineering, or related field8+ years experience in a material and process engineering role implementing & evaluating coatings strategies for aerospace vehiclesExperience developing and executing plans for material characterization, such as mechanical testing, corrosion testing, thermal analysis, chemical analysis, and material compatibilityDemonstrated technical depth in application and removal of military grade epoxy and polyurethane coatingsStrong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and handle small and large projects with diverse customersAbility to develop engineering tests to define requirements for undefined material forms and processesMust be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.DesiredVast knowledge of military coating materials and process specificationsAbility to drive change to more sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative coating solutionsExport Control RegulationsApplicants for employment at Blue Origin must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S.as a refugee or granted asylum.Equal Employment OpportunityBlue Origin is proud to be an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer and is committed to attracting, retaining, and developing a highly qualified, diverse, and dedicated work force.
