Job Title: Saw Operator

Job Description

The Saw Operator is responsible for operating a variety of machine tools, including saws, lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to create metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines with exacting tolerances and dimensions. The role involves interpreting blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications, as well as using a variety of machinist’s hand tools and precision measuring instruments. The operator will make standard shop computations related to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds, and will measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining. Additionally, the operator will fit and assemble precision parts into mechanical equipment as required. Some machines may be numerically controlled, and the operator may monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and implement lean manufacturing methods in all job assignments.

  • Maintain spindle turning at maximum at all times.

  • Ensure parts and tools are loaded correctly and that quality is consistently maintained throughout the assignment.

  • Change and adjust cutters under supervision as instructed.

  • Learn and adhere to company policies and procedures, particularly BQMS standards directly related to work center.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Saw operation

  • Machine operation

  • Blueprint reading

  • Bandsaw operation

  • CNC saw operation

  • 2 months to 1 year of saw operation or CNC operation experience or sawyer experience

  • Manual machining

  • Mill setup and editing

  • Knowledge of general machining processes using a wide variety of machine tools

  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area

  • Basic math skills

  • Good manual dexterity

  • Basic English language skills and the ability to read, follow, and interpret planning and work order instructions

  • Good attendance and attitude

  • Ability to professionally communicate and work cooperatively with others

  • Good attention to detail

  • Willingness to learn and help/train others as required

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Fanuc, Lathe, Haas, G-codes, and M-codes

  • Vocational school training

  • Experience in machining, aerospace, CNC operation

  • Knowledge of metalworking, fabrication, mechanical maintenance, and repair

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodinville, Washington.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00
