The Role:

The Maintenance Supervisor and Safety Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the maintenance team and ensuring that all equipment and facilities are properly maintained, operational, and compliant with safety standards. This dual role involves managing the day-to-day maintenance operations while coordinating safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both maintenance management and workplace safety, with the ability to lead a team and implement effective safety programs.

What You'll Do:

Maintenance Supervision:

  • Oversee daily operations of the maintenance team, ensuring all equipment and facilities are maintained and functioning efficiently.

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the life of equipment.

  • Schedule and assign maintenance tasks, ensuring that work is completed on time and to the required standards.

  • Coordinate with other departments to prioritize maintenance needs and respond to urgent repair requests.

  • Monitor the performance of the maintenance team, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations as needed.

  • Manage the maintenance budget, ensure resources are used efficiently and costs are controlled.

  • Maintain records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment repairs, and inventory of parts and supplies.

Safety Coordination:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.

  • Lead safety training programs for employees, including new hire orientations, ongoing safety training, and emergency response drills.

  • Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Maintain and update safety records, including incident reports, safety training logs, and regulatory compliance documentation.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related matters, including communication with regulatory agencies and responding to safety inquiries.

  • Promote a culture of safety throughout the organization, encouraging employee involvement and ownership of safety practices.

  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Processes, Food Safety Standards and related operational procedures

  • Other projects and duties as assigned

    Required Education, Skills and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in related field (e.g. Industrial Maintenance, Engineering, or Safety Management) preferred

  • Proven experience (2+ years) managing a maintenance team in an industrial, manufacturing, or production environment, including planning and coordinating maintenance activities, managing a team, and ensuring operational readiness of machinery and equipment.

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in safety management, preferably in an industrial setting, including developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs, conducting safety audits, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.

  • Experience managing multiple maintenance projects simultaneously, from planning and budgeting to execution and evaluation.

  • Experience sourcing, negotiating with, and managing third-party vendors and contractors for maintenance services and equipment.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, HVAC systems, and industrial machinery maintenance.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics.

  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to track work orders, inventory, and maintenance history.

  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.

  • Ability to conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and accident investigations.

  • Proficient in creating and implementing safety training programs for employees.

  • Experience developing emergency response plans and ensuring workplace readiness for potential hazards.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to both work alone and collaborate with other departments

    Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Warehouse and Office Work Environments

  • Ability to stand, sit, bend, crawl, reach, etc. for extended periods of time

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs.

  • Ability to use a computer

Additional Information:

Salary: $80,000 - $100,000 annually. This is an exempt position.
