Job Summary

We are seeking Early Education professionals who are passionate and dedicated to providing children and their families with an excellent educational experience. This position works alongside the Lead Teacher in implementing engaging activities for groups of children, supervising children while following program and state requirements.

Position Type/Location

We are looking to hire both full- and part-time staff at our Woodinville, North Seattle, West Seattle, and Auburn locations. Shifts will be within our operating hours of Monday-Friday, 6:30am-6:00pm.

Hiring Range: Entry $22.00/hour - Maximum $24.20/hour

Responsibilities

  1. Implements culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities with the curriculum in accordance with the Youth Development goals of the YMCA.

  2. Coordinates activities which fit the children's individual developmental needs. Activities are designed to enhance the whole child’s development to include social, intellectual, and physical growth.

  3. Supervises a group of children to ensure their health and safety, and to provide for a positive experience for each child.

  4. Completes individual child observations alongside lead teacher for child assessments.

  5. Professionally communicates with and maintains positive relationships with families. May participate in conferences.

  6. Keep family communicate sheets up to date, this includes daily record of activities, meals and family information notes.

  7. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.

  8. Provides assistance to Lead teacher and may fill-in during temporary absences.

  9. Maintains ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, cleanliness, and learning environment of classroom.

  10. Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.

Qualifications

  1. 18 years of age or older.

  2. Experience in working with children the same age as those to be supervised.

  3. Completion of minimum STARS required training*

  4. High school diploma or equivalent.

  5. Knowledge of culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate practices.

  6. Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.

  7. Cleared Portable Background Check in the statewide registry MERIT.**
