Summary:

The General Manager – Processing, is the senior on-site leader of a Pacific Seafood is responsible for the profitable, sustainable growth of Pacific Seafood’s food processing facility.  You will oversee direct plant operations, work in partnership with fishing fleets, and execute Pacific Seafood’s business goals and objectives. As an accomplished seafood business leader, you have a strategic mindset and communicate effectively in order to execute your vision, develop and grow your team, and consistently and sustainably grow the business year over year. You are proactive and lead by example which allows you to champion and lead change initiatives for the betterment of the business and organization. You are a mentor who is passionate, reflective, and skilled at creating a work diverse and inclusive environment that motivates team members to deliver results. You are adept at building positive relationships across multiple departments, working collaboratively to communicate tasks, implement changes, improve business performance, and resolve issues.

Key Responsibilities 

Team Leadership and Development

  • Implement employment policies and guidelines in alignment with company to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment regulations.

  • Represent Pacific Seafood as an active, contributing member of the local community.

    Production and Quality Management

    • Develop and manage an operating plan to meet or exceed business unit objectives. Determine strategies and tactics for achieving financial objectives, presenting assumptions and recommending objectives. Make sound business projections, identify the impact of budgetary assumption changes, and make appropriate adjustments.
    • Develop and execute internal and external resource procurement plans from fishing fleet.

    Production and Quality Management

    • Meet or exceed business KPIs and execute growth plans to achieve net income objectives through effective leadership of others.
    • Management of all plant expenses including capital expenditures and annual planning, meeting all budgeted requirements.
    • Develop and control profits, plans, and budget for the efficient use of materials, machines and team members; review and analyze activities, costs, operations, and forecasted data to determine department or division progress toward stated goals and objectives.
    • Responsible for establishing metrics, business plan development, and managing organizational structure.

    Continuous Improvement and Problem Solving

    • Direct operational efforts in the most efficient manner possible for our sustainable resources and by appropriate utilization of equipment and personnel.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Pacific Seafood strategic plan, business model and the multiple vertically integrated business units; collaborate and align with cross-functional teams to plan and implement all business strategies.

  • Strive to continuously improve operations with respect to best practices for productivity, food quality, worker safety, inventory levels and management of operating expenses.

  • Coordinate plant activities with other internal company departments and establish effective working relationships with external regulatory agencies and community businesses. 

     

    What You Bring to Pacific Seafood 

    Required:

    • Minimum 8 years of progressive departmental management experience in a manufacturing and procurement, food processing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of finance and accounting to include the interpretation of the Profit planning and income statements.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time or more, as required.

  • Solid experience utilizing Microsoft Suite

     Preferred:

    • BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university in Fisheries Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Prior seafood production or purchasing management experience.

  • Prior LEAN management and constant process improvement production experience.

  • Prior experience with the Individual Quota program, including quota trading and buying, strategizing fishing habits, market needs and changes in Total Allowable Catch.

  • Prior experience using SAP and Innova Food Processing software

  • Prior experience in recruiting seasonal team members and developing a management team.

  • Prior experience in a food processing environment and new product development.

  • HACCP Knowledge

  • Power BI Knowledge

  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus

    Salary Range - $100 - 150k annually
