This is an executive position under the administrative direction of the Mayor. This position plans, directs, and manages all police functions including but not limited to patrol operations; crime prevention, detection, and analysis; various investigations; citizen outreach; and officer training.
$13,000 - $17,500 month/ DOQ

Education and/or Experience * *
Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, public administration, or closely related field; and ten (10) years' progressively responsible experience in a qualified federal, state, county, or municipal law enforcement agency; and four (4) years of supervisory experience in police services; or any combination of education and experience providing the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Must be a citizen of the United States.
- Must possess a valid Washington State driver's license with an insurable driving record.
- CJTC Executive Level Certification, or ability to obtain within six (6) months if from another state.
- Must be able to pass extensive background, polygraph, physical and psychological examination, unless promoted from within the department.
- Complete CJIS Security Awareness within six (6) months of hire and maintain throughout employment.
- Mid-Level Management Certification from WSCJTC or equivalent if from another state.
- Certified as a Washington State law enforcement officer.
