The Center for Alcohol and Drug Treatment Withdrawal Management Technician in Wenatchee, Washington
*WM TECHNICIAN (WITHDRAWAL MANAGEMENT TECHNICIAN): * The Center for Alcohol and Drug Treatment is now taking applications for Withdrawal Management Technicians. This position is responsible for the care of patients withdrawing from substance use. Day, swing, and graveyard shifts are available 7 days a week. We are looking for team members who understand substance use disorder and the implication of withdrawal and have a desire to help those with addiction. Must have a basic knowledge of computers fundamentals. Team members will be trained to take vital signs and interpret signs of trauma. Duties/Functions
- Admit new patients using Electronic Heath Records.
- Must complete monthly computer security training.
- Supervise and provide care to patients.
- Ability to assist patients by lifting and supporting to bed, living area, dining area, restrooms and showers. Fall prevention.
- Recognize and be able to interpret signs and symptoms of withdrawal.
- Maintain records reflecting patient's confidentiality.
- Arrange appropriate referrals.
- Report the status of patients to oncoming shift.
- Treat each patient with dignity and respect.
- Encourage patients to seek further assistance regarding their substance use disorder.
- Notify the Emergency Room if the patient's health status becomes unmanageable or questionable.
- Assist patients in self-administration of medications.
- Take vitals on all patients.
- Search luggage of admitted patients.
- Communicate with law enforcement, hospitals and paramedics. Keep documentation on this in log book to communicate to all staff.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Participate in a continuum of education in regard to substance use disorder.
- Keep the unit in supplies, such as paper towels, Kleenex, etc; by notifying supervisor.
- Make copies of needed forms when unit is running low.
- In emergency situations or staff illness, cover shift.
- Upon discharge of patient, wipe down bed, pillow and bedside table with appropriate cleaner and disinfectant.
- Assist/supervise patients in doing laundry.
- May provide patient transportation when needed.
