Chelan County PUD Fiber Network Admin (I-Sr) in Wenatchee, Washington

Overview Administer the provisioning, monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting of the Passive Optical Network (PON), Ethernet, and Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) platforms on a Wide Area Network (WAN) to support a broadband Fiber to the Home (FTTH) network. The Fiber to the Home (FTTH) network is comprised of routers, switches, computer servers, passive optical network (PON) technology, and an Ethernet network. This is the 1st (entry) level of 3 positions in the Fiber Network Administrator job series.

Responsibilities

  • Service Provisioning: Learn and with assistance, provide provisioning of services including Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS), DS1, Digital Loop Line (DLL), Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) and Radio Frequency (RF) Video
  • Basic access network troubleshooting
  • Retail Service Provider (RSP) Liaison/Communications
  • Maintain documentation
  • After hours duties: Perform after-hours maintenance and respond to after-hours calls and emergencies
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance: Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Comply with District policies. Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC).
  • As a secondary function, drive a motorized vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the District.

Qualifications

Education Equivalent experience (year for year) may substitute for required education.

  • No post-secondary education required

Experience

  • 2+ years Of network administration experience including LAN switching and Optical Networking, preferably in a multi-user network environment. required. and
  • Linux and CLI experience preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Driver's License at hire and WA Driver's License within 30 days of hire required
  • CCNA - Cisco Certified Network Technician preferred
  • NRS certifications preferred preferred and
  • CompTIA - IT Fundamentals or equivalent preferred

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook; Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word is required
  • Must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.
