New Shepard is a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Karman line - the internationally recognized boundary of space. Through operational reusability, New Shepard supports our mission of lowering the cost of access to space! As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will design test equipment for component testing and ground support operations. Your expertise designing electrical equipment will be essential in delivering solutions that enable the on-time completion of test activities in development, qualification, production, and fielded vehicle operations. You will use your skills in systems engineering, electrical design, electronics packaging, and harnessing, as well as collaborate with software engineers to develop system automation and user interfaces. In addition, you will work with technical project managers to develop project schedules and ensure that test, operations, and maintenance activities are conducted consistently with design intent and defined requirements. You will collaborate with avionics design, test and system engineers to understand and overcome challenges to deliver test equipment that supports component testing and ground operations. Special Mentions Relocation provided Travel expected up to 20% of the time Interviews will include a technical assessment Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Own the design and development of electrical ground support equipment (EGSE) and specialized test equipment. Use software tools to generate detailed and accurate diagrams and drawings for the designs. Focus design on enhancing operational efficiency and user experience. Mitigate technical challenges, ensuring that the designed test equipment supports intended usage. Champion compliance of industry standards in the development, verification, and commissioning of electrical equipment. Actively drive continual improvement and optimization of electrical equipment design practices and team standards, emphasizing reliability, performance, and safety. Minimum Qualifications Degree or equivalent experience in electrical engineering, mechatronics, computer engineering or related field. 2+ years of experience in a related field. Excellent digital literacy with the ability to rapidly learn and use a variety of software tools as needed. Familiarity with analog/digital circuit architecture and design including typical avionics interfaces. Electrical/mechanical design and integration skills using CAD software (VISIO and CREO are preferred). Experience collaborating in small, cross-discipline teams on fast-paced projects. Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Preferred Qualifications Aerospace test and operations experience (aircraft, launch vehicles, spacecraft). Experience developing hardware to IPC J-STD-0001xS, IPC/WHMA-A-620x-S, and/or NASA-STD-8739.n standards. Experience in small company, startup, or growth transition environments.
