Sharp Electronics Corporation Product Manager in Washington

Overview

The Product Manager is the focal point for one, or more, microelectronic component product lines, for the purpose of developing marketing and sales strategies, to achieve market share and sales growth objectives for Sharp Electronics Device Division. Performs all tasks in accordance with company policies and procedures, exercising reasonable regard for his or her own safety, the safety of others, and the safety and security of company property.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve sales revenue targets through effective sales techniques.

  • Interface with factories on business, delivery, technical and quality issues.

  • Update and maintain current product pricing programs.

  • Prepare semi-annual product line business plans.

  • Direct and coordinate new product introductions and product changes.

  • Manage and analyze sales forecasts -- Responsible for management of forecasted and planned budget levels with emphasis on revenues, productivity levels, and unit placements.

  • Participate in management of a matrix organization to coordinate sales, engineering, quality, customer service, planning and logistics to provide customer and factory support.

  • Coordination of accounting, credit and finance to ensure that the product line operates with the corporate guidelines while also servicing customer and factory demands.

  • Develop value add strategies to enhance sales and profitability of Sharp products.

  • Develop and manage third party manufacturing relationships, production contracts and cost controls including: manufacturing, engineering development and tooling.

  • Regional/international logistics and business process flows to conform to regional and international laws.

  • Participate in organizational planning to enhance cost efficiency and customer support.

  • Develops six-twelve month rolling forecasts and long range sales plans for each channel.

  • May act as project leader on standard and moderately complex projects.

  • Gather, evaluate and analyze competitive and general market information.

  • Participate in customer sales negotiations and business issues. This may require face to face meetings, conference calls, emails or text messaging.

  • Coordinates factory taskforce visits of domestic customers. May attend customer meetings in Japan, China, and Europe.

  • Perform product presentations in conjunction with salesforce.

  • Monitor and coordinate product line inventory purchases.

  • Manages monthly IPSI report by collating inputs from sales, quality, engineering and factory personnel.

  • Interface and facilitate discussions between customers, Japan and internal legal groups to resolve differences in contracts NDAs and other legal agreements.

  • Utilizes problem-solving techniques to test reasonableness of purchase quantities taking into account shipping methods/costs versus additional inventory

  • Analyze factory delivery communication and put into action activities to meet both customer’s requirements and sales/inventory goals.

  • Coordinate demand planning and master production schedule to assure properly balanced forecast alignment with actual orders received and manufacturing capacity.

  • Establishes and maintains verbal and written communication channels with assigned factories to facilitate the exchange of critical information.

  • On request, formulates and formats ad hoc reports from systems, which may include current, future and historical product data.

  • EOL/LTB (end of life/last time buy) supply and demand management.

  • Responsible for assigned products' P & L

  • Coordinate new product introductions, track requirements for prototype builds with program manager(s) and factory.

  • Attend and report on trade shows and seminars, including booth duty when necessary.

  • Travels domestically or internationally multiple times/yr. to coordinate with customers and partners.

Qualifications

  • BS or equivalent. MBA preferred.

  • Minimum five years of related experience in a microelectronic component sales (representative, direct or distribution sales), marketing or applications engineering environment.

  • Effective negotiation, communication and presentation skills required.

  • International travel required.

  • This position will be through Sharp’s partner Trilogy and consideration of conversion to SEC position at a later time. Benefits are available thru Trilogy.

Compensation for this position

The compensation range for this role is $67,500 - $138,000The listed salary range or contractual rate excludes bonuses, incentives, differential pay, and any other forms of compensation or benefits. The starting salary will be determined by several variables, including but not limited to experience, education, training, certification, and location. You may also be eligible to receive an annual discretionary incentive award, commissions, and program-specific awards, which are subject to the rules governing these programs.
