POSITION PURPOSE At the direction of the Access Services Manager, the Circulation Supervisor is accountable for supervising Access and User Services during weekend hours of operation (Saturday 10AM - 6PM; Sunday 10AM - 5PM). This includes circulation, print and electronic reserves, stacks maintenance, interlibrary loan and consortial borrowing and lending services. This position also supervises student Circulation Assistants and ensures the security of the Library, including opening and closing the facility. This is a part-time position with an FTE of 0.25 working 520 hours during the 9-month academic year. COMPENSATION Successful applicants can expect to start at $19.67 per hour. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES • Supervise Access and User Services during weekend hours of operation (Saturday 10AM - 6PM; Sunday 10AM - 5PM). Direct patrons to specific librarians or staff members. • Complete tasks as assigned by the Access Services Manager. • Provide and oversee customer service at the Circulation Desk. Explain library services and resources, including loan periods, library catalog and item requesting. Refer reference questions to appropriate staff. • Process items for course reserve. Perform and lead stack maintenance activities as assigned. • Perform interlibrary loan tasks as assigned, including filling loan and article lending requests, resolving errors and citation issues, and mailing items. Perform consortial (Summit) Resource Sharing tasks as assigned, including receiving items and preparing shipments. • Participate in hiring, training, supervising and evaluation of student Circulation Assistants. Perform the duties of the student Circulation Assistants in their absence. Provide constructive feedback to student Circulation Assistants. Report job performance and/or behavioral issues of student Circulation Assistants to Access Services Manager and/or Head of User Services. • Exercise independent judgment in regards to library patron accounts as needed, maintaining confidentiality of records. • Maintain an atmosphere conducive to studying in Penrose Library. • Ensure security of the building, working with Campus Security and other staff as appropriate. Open and close the library as required. Arrange for emergency maintenance and custodial services. • Walk through the library during the assigned shift to observe the condition of the stacks, general building condition and patron activities. • Assist patrons in use of the printers, copiers, and other library-related technologies. • Collect fines, bills and monies tendered. • Consult with and/or update Head of User Services, Access Services Manager or other Circulation Supervisors during shift changes. • Perform other duties as assigned when bandwidth is available.
