POSITION PURPOSE The consulting provider is a contract medical position providing 10-12 hours per week of medication management for Whitman College students. The position reports directly to the Assistant Vice President for Health and Wellness in consultation with the Medical Director and the Director of the Health Center. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES • Provide psychiatric evaluations and consultations for Counseling Center clients (referred by Counseling Center and Health Center). • Provide consultative services to professional staff. • Responsible for communicating the type of lab work and medication recommended to the client's primary care provider (e.g., Student Health). • Establish and maintain relationships with colleagues. • Perform other duties as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Must be able to explain and/or demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities to safely perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Specifically, • Listening and interviewing skills. • Knowledge of diagnosis. • Up-to-date knowledge of mental health medications and their use. • Knowledge of and openness to working with diverse populations and dedication to the College's core values of diversity, equity, inclusion and antiracism. • General computer and documentation skills, willing to learn new software programs. • Strong written, verbal, and electronic communication skills. PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Licensed as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner/Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the State of Washington at the time of hire. • Experience providing psychiatric treatment to young adults in an outpatient setting. • Ability to obtain an unrestricted Federal Controlled Substance Registration (DEA). PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Two (2) years' work experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. • College health experience or experience treating young adults (e.g., treatment of eating disorders, mood disorders, depression). PSYCHIATRIST MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) or ability to obtain MD or DO licensure by the State of Washington by time of hire. • Unrestricted physician license in the State of Washington. • Completion of an accredited residency in psychiatry. • Board Certification/Eligibility in psychiatry. • Ability to obtain an unrestricted Federal Controlled Substance Registration (DEA).
