Walla Walla Community College is accepting applications to fill the role of Program Assistant position for the WWCC Correction Education program located at the Washington State Penitentiary (WSP) in Walla Walla, Washington. This position is filled to fulfill a contract awarded to Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) by the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (WSBCTC) to operate a correctional education program at WSP in accordance with an interagency agreement with the Department of Corrections. Walla Walla Community College and its employees working in a correctional education program are expected to follow all Department of Corrections (DOC) Policies, IT and other Security requirements, follow DOC Operational Memorandums, and comply with the Superintendent’s directions. General Responsibilities: This position prioritizes and performs office assistant duties for the Dean and Assistant Dean of Corrections Education. The Office Assistant will independently administer GED tests and related Pearson registrations and disseminate scores to students and teachers. This position will also perform a variety of clerical projects and assignments such as establishing record keeping, filing systems, database files, and inventories. Professionally and respectfully communicates with students, faculty, and staff of diverse cultural, ethnic, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds. Resolves problems and responds to inquiries requiring substantive knowledge of office and departmental procedures and policies in coordination with the Assistant Dean, and Dean of Corrections Education. WWCC Washington State Penitentiary Organizational Chart Essential Functions: GED Proctor Tasks include: *Provides GED exam for students enrolled in Basic Skills classes. *Maintain inventories of materials, equipment, or products. *Enforce policies and rules governing inmate students attending testing. *Take attendance and maintain student activity log. *Accurately maintain testing records and fully submit records to GED Testing Program Coordinator. *Occasionally provide proctoring services for academic placement testing. Student Records Tasks include: *Works with the computerized Department of Corrections (DOC) Offender Management Network Information (OMNI) to generate and fill seat availability for classes offered at WSP. *Participate in yearly CASAS Cadre trainings and work with faculty CASAS Cadre to disseminate new information and maintain CASAS certifications. *Enter and maintain student information in WABERS. Assist with quarterly checklist and updating student WABERS records. *Prepares, inputs, and distributes weekly student/offender attendance. *Requests, tracks and updates student records pertaining to assigned program area. *Creates and
