The Children, Youth and Young Adults Division (CYYAD) of DCHS seeks a Training Coordinator to lead the planning and implementation of youth development training and foundational equity and social justice training for young adults. The Training Coordinator will lead the Children, Youth and Young Adults, Direct Services team in coordinating and implementing training focused on education and employment services for youth ages 16-24. *WHO MAY APPLY: *This position is open to all qualified candidates that meet the minimum requirements. WORK SCHEDULE/CONDITIONS: This is a Special Duty or Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) position anticipated to end December 31, 2021, but subject to change dependent on operational need. This position is scheduled to work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm. This position meets the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible with supervisory pre-approval. This position is represented by PROTEC17. *TEMPORARY TELECOMMUTING REQUIREMENT The work associated with this position will be performed remotely, at least through July 5, 2021 in compliance with King County’s telecommuting mandate. Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Employees must reside in WA state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. There will be situations where the employee is required to report to a County worksite. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required by the department in alignment with the Public Health Directive from the Seattle & King County Public Health Officer. RECRUITER: Annette Coleman Job Duties * Create a sustainable training plan and implement a continuous series of education and employment trainings for youth and young adults. * Coordinate external trainings and facilitators and ensure implementation across division. * Oversee the development, coordination and implementation of foundational equity and social justice trainings for youth and young adults. * Facilitate financial literacy, advocacy, life skills and equity and social justice. * Manage trainings for CYYAD direct services programming, including coordination of events, communication with training staff, attendees, and management of training records, etc. * Perform other related duties as assigned. Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills * Bachelor's degree and two or more years of experience in course design, curriculum development, instructional methods, and techniques for presenting materials and/or equivalent education and training. * Three years of experience in facilitating various trainings including demonstrated ability to integrate the use of technology in delivering training for youth and young adults ages 16-24. * Two years of experience leading workgroups and/or change teams. * Two years of experience planning and implementing industry related career exposure events for young adults. * Three or more years experience facilitating financial literacy, youth development, positive racial identity, advocacy, entrepreneurship and life skills trainings to young adults. * Three or more years experience supporting youth and young adults ages 16-24 within a multi-disciplinary team. * Demonstrated knowledge of the principles underlying equity and social justice; history of marginalized communities and ability to integrate knowledge of equity and social justice principles in the development and/or delivery of training. * Demonstrated skill in engaging healthy conflict: conversations about race, gender and all systems of privilege in a way that normalizes discussion and draws others in. * Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate to a diverse audience with different learning styles and opinions. * Experience reviewing data, identifying promising practices, and continuous quality improvement. * Working knowledge of Microsoft Word for Windows, Access, Email, the Internet and intermediate Excel skills.
