A Telecommunication Engineer - Electrical Design Engineer is needed for a leading EPC organization in the Portland, OR, metro area. The Telecommunication Engineer will be responsible for working with the Networks, Integration & Automation (NIA) team, working on dynamic projects that modernize today's electric grid infrastructure. In this role, you will manage and execute electrical design projects from conception through to completion, leveraging your expertise to drive successful outcomes for our clients. Your work will directly contribute to developing cutting-edge solutions in Private LTE networks, grid modernization, renewable energy, rural broadband, and fiber optic infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of seven years of experience in utility networks, integration, and automation projects, with at least three years in project management. A degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field is required. Professional Engineering (PE) registration or EIT is desired. Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to travel as needed.

responsibilities:

  • Manage and execute telecommunication electrical design projects from the conceptual phase through design completion

  • Support the development of private carrier-grade LTE networks for electric utilities, enabling enhanced grid monitoring and management to improve customer service.

  • Connect renewable energy assets like offshore wind, solar PV, hydroelectric power, and battery storage to electric grid infrastructure to ensure critical communications for local utilities and system operators

  • Collaborate with electric utilities to enhance their capabilities using the latest technologies for remote monitoring, automation, and control, leading to improved operational efficiency

  • Assist clients in providing high-speed internet access to rural communities, advancing educational and economic opportunities to help close the digital divide

  • Research and design project-related data based on client needs; Apply electrical engineering principles to solve complex problems within the industry

  • Conduct field inspections, measurements, and calculations for public and private clients
