Banfield Pet Hospital Sr. Manager, External Relations in Vancouver, Washington
Summary and Qualifications:
Ensure the success of the practice through the promotion and protection of the brand by creating, overseeing, and leading external relations and executive thought leadership campaigns.
Lead strategy and engagement with external industry, media and event partners, creating influence and impact for Banfield's reputation, goals, and initiatives.
Manage cross-functional Corporate Affairs programs to provide project management expertise and drive efficiencies.
Essential Responsibilities and Tasks:
Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
Lead industry, media and event relationships to build and protect Banfield's reputation - own strategic projects and partnerships with a range of highly influential leaders/groups and agency partners.
Create, drive, and manage long-term strategies for external communications, thought leadership and reputation lifting initiatives for Banfield Pet Hospital.
Plan and execute integrated content strategy in support of key initiatives including annual CSR report, Pet Healthcare Industry Summit as well as the presence of Banfield senior leaders at other key business and industry events.
Manage and measure annual reputation study and reputation dashboard.
Create and manage annual budget for overall Corporate Affairs team budget and agency partners.
Lead cross-functional Corporate Affairs projects to drive efficiency, best practices, and ways of working across the team.
Foster dynamic storytelling around CSR and industry relations programs and partner closely with senior leaders to drive ambassadorship.
Other job duties as assigned.
Special Working Conditions:
Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time.
Project timelines and work volume/deadlines may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job.
Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to solve problems involving several variables.
Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate necessary equipment.
The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.

Experience, Education and/or Training:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or Marketing is required, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
10 years of experience in Public Relations, Communications, or Journalism are required.
Solid understanding of public and media relations is required.
Experience in crisis communications as well as solid written communications skills are required.
Prior communications agency experience is required.
