At the Hawthorne Gardening Company, we're on a relentless pursuit to push the limits of growing performance. We are looking for a Sr/ Engineer, Electrical who will join our Hawthorne team in Vancouver, WA. The chosen candidate will be a key leader of Hawthorne's Lighting and Controllers innovation pipeline in support of our North America and International business units. The lighting and environmental controller categories of Hawthorne include commercial and retail lighting and environmental controllers as well as LED fixtures for a variety of growing facilities. The business supported by the role provides products for hydroponic indoor gardening as well as greenhouse horticulture markets in North America and globally. The chosen candidate will both work with vendors and third-party contractors as well as provide individual contributions to execute product development. The ideal candidate will be self-driven with an eagerness to learn in a fast-evolving industry. What you'll do in this role: -Develop a multi-year innovation and product improvement pipeline for the Lighting and Controller category in collaboration with the category manager and other engineering team members with focus on IoT, Data Integration and Modelling, Robot and Automation, wireless technology and EMC/EMI circuit design applied for smart devices applied for horticulture lighting -Take a leadership role in high frequency and high density power electronics device product development including circuit design, simulation and validation -Manage internal R&D and performance test lab, maintain test equipment with defined annual calibration procedure and coordinate with cross-functional teams on collecting, executing and reporting per their test requests. -Support internal quality and manufacturing teams and provide lab service and technical support on internal manufacturing items including lighting, controllers and other hardwares -Partner with internal regulatory team and attend ANSI, ASABE, UL, DLC and NIST committee meetings to obtain latest lighting and controller regulatory and standard development info -Partner closely with other Category Managers to ensure they are armed with ample technical knowledge on the categories they support from RF devices, compliance and lab performance testing etc. -Travel up to 20% of the time What you'll need to be successful: -Must have a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, PhD with RF device focus is preferred. -Minimum 10 years' experience in RF device development and high density power electronics -Preferred experience on high energy density power electronics device design and high frequency RF device design -Preferred experience on managing electrical and electronics lab -Preferred experience on UL, CSA, EC, and ETL certification processes -Working experience with Mandarin speaking environment -Advanced knowledge on power electronics hardware design -Advanced Knowledge on high frequency FPGA and RF design -Knowledge on semiconductor device and solid state lighting -Ability to interact with and contribute to cross-functional teams -Ability to handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously -Drive to deliver products on time with attention to quality -Ability to speak Mandarin preferred The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $129,900.00 - $152,800.00.
