HP, Inc. R&D Product Safety & Regulatory Compliance Engineer in Vancouver, Washington

As Product Safety and Regulatory Compliance Engineer for the site, you'll be working closely with the R&D teams (Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware, EMC) to ensure our printer products do not pose a safety risk to our customers and that the product is in full compliance with worldwide safety and regulatory requirements. Specific duties include guiding R&D decisions which impact safety; conducting subsystem and product safety reviews; performing safety tests; overseeing EMC compliance testing; working with external safety agencies on certifications; and driving the overall product safety/EMC/regulatory schedule to ensure a timely product release.What a R&D Product Safety & Regulatory Compliance Engineer does at HP:Be part of a dynamic R&D Product Safety & Regulatory team responsible for achieving product global compliance in the areas of electromagnetic compatibility, product safety and telecom.Works with cross functional teams (R&D, Operations, Global Procurement) and external agencies in delivering a product that meets various world-wide regulatory standards.Engages in product safety analysis, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)/telecom assessment leading towards product improvement on building compliance robustness.Partners externally with manufacturing partners and test laboratories in delivering seamless product qualification goals such as qualification cost, schedule and technical competencies.Be involved actively in all relevant design reviews to ensure Design for Compliance (DfC) methodologies are followed diligently to achieve early compliance readiness.Develops qualification plan as part of the overall compliance certification schedule to fulfil the aggressive time to market objectives.Participates in all qualification activities that will drive defect surfacing at early stage, partner with design teams in developing sustainable solutions that will be feasible for volume ramp, taking into consideration of implementation cost effectiveness, compliance robustness and overall time to market.Supports all post volume ramp cost reduction, Assurance of Supply qualification and production line move requirement such that the baseline compliance performance continued to be upheld.Be proactive in anticipating of new regulatory changes that will impact test requirement, design expectation and incorporate into the entire product development and supply chain life cycle.At all times ensure brand promise of Safe & Legal compliance is met consistently.Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess:Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering.Typically, 4-6 years of relevant experience.Strong background in digital/analog electronics, power supply, telecom circuit design.In depth knowledge of worldwide product safety/Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)/Telecom regulatory requirement.Strong interpersonal skills.Project management skill desirable.Where legally permitted, an offer of employment is conditional upon you providing proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (as defined by the CDC) as of your first day of employment.
