Summary: JH Kelly’s Commercial Mechanical group is comprised of experienced project executives and next-generation project managers who partner with general contractors, developers, and facility owners to design, fabricate, install, and service HVAC and plumbing systems.
The Project Manager plays a key role in leading and managing complex construction projects from inception to completion, overseeing project teams through preconstruction processes, design and virtual construction, fabrication workflows, field installation, startup, and project turnover. This role is responsible for running the entire project’s life cycle including planning, organizing, directing, controlling, coordinating, and financial aspects. Responsibilities include strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. The Project Manager coordinates with engineers, subcontractors, and clients, overseeing multiple project teams while ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. The successful candidate leads project teams, facilitates communication among stakeholders, and resolves any issues that arise, ensuring successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
Salary Range: $59-$70 per hour (DOE), FLSA non-exempt (OT eligible).
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure, follow, and promote company safety and quality protocols.
Plan and manage the project schedule and account for variances to the plan.
Plan and manage the project estimate.
Manage and control project costs and account for variances to the estimate.
Create accurate projections of cost at completion.
Plan and manage the project control systems.
Direct activities of project staff personnel.
Take off quantities and prepare pricing for changes when so directed.
Thoroughly review all drawings, submittals, samples, and shop drawings, to ensure installation will be in accordance with the contract.
Budget set-up.
Write and manage RFI’s and change orders.
Estimating and procurement.
Plan and Coordinate work appropriately to facilitate the work permit process.
Review construction procedures and provide technical support for work.
Ensure construction work in-house and by sub-contractors complies with the contract.
Be directly involved with construction procedures, and represent JH Kelly at various meetings.
Perform field engineering for construction convenience items including calculation and design drafting when required.
Keep management informed of project status and scheduling.
Thoroughly review all drawings, submittals, samples, and shop drawings, to ensure the final product will be in accordance with the contract.
Lead, mentor, and manage Interns, Field Engineers, Project Engineers, and other project team members.
Maintain proactive and positive relationships within the crafts, including shop and field craft personnel, as well as supervision of coworkers.
Maintain proactive and positive relationships with customer representatives, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, safety, CAD/BIM, accounting, and IT.
Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Relationships:

Foster positive relationships with customer representatives, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, safety, CAD/BIM, accounting, IT, and all project teams.
Experience / Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Civil, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a construction industry-related field.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the full project management life cycle within the commercial mechanical industry.
Expertise in all responsibilities of a project, demonstrating proficiency and mastery with consistently positive results and growth:
Scheduling, budgeting, planning, and managing projects.
Establishing scheduling baselines, assessing impact claims, and negotiating soft subjects.
Conducting risk assessment and communication (both internal and external).
Managing billings, forecasting, and resource management.
Consistently producing profits greater than the bid margin.
Developing repeat business with customers and clients.
Fully proficient in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam, with intermediate skills in Excel
Expert in Critical Path Method (CPM) Scheduling, using MS Project or comparable applications preferred.
Above average knowledge in Project Management, Construction Management, Construction Contracts, Quality Assurance/Quality Control, and Safety.
Ability to conceptually visualize projects and implement appropriate plans with financial success.
Above average skills in reading drawings and isometrics.

A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required.
Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements for this role include the ability to transition frequently between an office and a construction field setting. In the office, the individual must be able to sit for extended periods while working at a computer, performing repetitive tasks such as typing and using a mouse, and communicating by telephone. In the field, the individual must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods on various surfaces, including uneven terrain, and climbing stairs as required. The role also necessitates the ability to kneel, crouch, and crawl to view/inspect tight spaces, as well as occasionally lifting 40 pounds. Good vision and hearing are essential for reading plans, inspecting work, and communicating on-site. The individual must adhere to the site-specific dress code and comply with safety requirements by wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots. Flexibility to travel between job sites and work outside regular business hours when necessary is also required.
