JR Merit, Inc. Project Engineer I in Vancouver, Washington

OverviewThis position is an entry-level professional position responsible for learning estimating, planning, scheduling, and executing a specific scope of work on projects. You will coordinate with field labor to ensure the work is completed safely, on schedule, and up to JR Merit, Inc.'s quality standards.

Responsibilities• Utilization of cost types/phase codes.• Project setup by pay item and phase codes, including selection of cost types.• Accurately input and update labor plans in Viewpoint.• Assist project team with cost and revenue projects.• Forecasting basic project outcomes.• Exposure to use specialized tools, such as PM and Job Cost Modules, in Viewpoint.• Become knowledgeable in the following functions of the Estimating department.1. Perform basic quantity takeoff.2. Develop materials list based on current engineering specifications.3. Assist project team with development of proposals.4. Understand basics of estimating unites, such as MCA and JR Merit Metrics.5. Rate structures of Time and Material (T+M) projects for estimating.6. Clear understanding of definition of costs.7. Utilization of Bid2Win.• Maintain onsite rental equipment logs.• Field purchasing per job-specific procedures.• Understand and gain exposure to craft labor agreements, including craft pay rates and overtime rules.• Prepare project-specific reporting (i.e., time sheets, rental equipment, etc.)• Understand cash flow and participate in invoice preparation and collection of accounts receivable.• Accurately track backup documentation; get signatures, compile, and organize documents for T&M projects.

Qualifications• Internship experience during undergraduate coursework is preferred.• Strong client-facing and teamwork skills.• Excellent analytical skills supported by strong written and verbal communication ability.• Strong basic computer skills and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.• Commitment to continuing personal development and education to ensure that skill sets match project.• Strong service orientation, interpersonal and public communication skills, presentation skills, flexibility, and professionalism.• Technical aptitude to learn internal systems and required packages.

Education• Bachelor’s degree is Construction Engineering, Management, or a related field
