Summary of Duties

 

Program Description

 

The Talent Search (TS) programs at WSU Vancouver identify and assist 1,000 participants from Vancouver Public Schools, individuals who have the potential to become the first in their families to graduate from college. Talent Search programming focuses on participant support in academic classes, career exploration, and financial literacy. The program is funded by the Department of Education for the 2021-2026 award cycle.

 

Summary of Duties

 

Under the direction of the Campus Director of Talent Search Programs, the Program Coordinator plans, organizes and coordinates in all aspects of two TRiO Talent Search grant programs. This position is responsible for maintaining program directives as set outby the federal grants, including preparing grant related reports and Annual Performance reports for the Department of Education, while abiding by federal and state policies and WSU policies. Educating and informing students, staff and the public on program initiatives.

 

The Program Coordinator is the first point of contact at WSU, responding to inquiries regarding enrollment in the programs and services provided, recording student contacts and entering data into the software tracking system. While maintaining a high level of confidentiality, the Program Coordinator independently reaches out to participants and their families to obtain additional necessary information and documentation to meet program requirements.

 

The Program Coordinator position independently coordinates travel, activities and events, including monthly purchasing verification and reconciling budgets for the Talent Search grant(s). The position provides logistical support for target school events, field trips, and other programing serving the 1,000 Talent Search participants within the Vancouver Public Schools. This also includes ordering and tracking program inventory and working with the WSU Vancouver marketing and communications team to update Talent Search marketing materials and websites. Additionally, the Program Coordinator supports various hiring personnel processes for Talent Search grant(s), including both full and part-time staff.

 

It is important that this position provide a professional office environment of efficiency and customer service in support of institutional responsiveness to external visitors, students, and colleagues while representing the TRIO Talent Search programs at WSU Vancouver.

 

Required Qualifications

 

High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty OR equivalent education/experience.

 

Two years' experience working in a customer service-oriented work environ
