PeaceHealth is seeking a Polysomnographic Technologist - Neurology for a Full Time, 0.95 FTE, Day position.

The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $30.22 – $45.32.

The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

Works under the general supervision of the clinical director (M.D., D.O., or PhD) or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services or patient care and education. A Polysomnographic Technologist can perform the duties defined for a Polysomnographic Technician and may provide oversight of other staff.

The successful candidate will possess excellent patient-care skills, strong technical and clinical skills, have strong initiative and follow-up, attention to detail, effective oral and written communication skills and be able to prioritize and manage time efficiently. Must be well organized, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Must be able to follow directions and adhere to company and Sleep/Neurology procedures and protocols. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and produce timely and accurate work. Strong computer skills and the ability to continually learn and update existing computer and technical skills is a must. The ability to maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and to work cooperatively with peers is essential. Must take on additional work as needed and be willing to perform work outside of regular job duties, as assigned.

* We do not have a sleep lab. We perform HST out of our Neurology department. *

Day Tech working in our Neurology department Performing & Scoring Home Sleep Studies. Works in our Neurology Department performing and scoring Home Sleep Tests.

  • Responsible for all office Home Sleep Testing (HST) operations under direction of Medical Director

  • Provides exceptional customer service to patients through friendly, caring, informative and professional interactions; anticipates patient needs and responds quickly to patient requests.

  • Sets up Home Sleep Tests (HSTs); downloads HSTs; cleans HSTs.

  • Trains/educates patients as to the proper usage of HST equipment.

  • Handles scheduled and unscheduled appointments and telephone calls for HST questions, troubleshooting, and setup.

  • Scores HSTs

  • Forwards CPAP prescriptions and appropriate documentation to external DME providers in accordance with patient’s insurance

  • Keeps accurate and detailed encounter notes in chart.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree Health Sciences. (Preferred)

  • High level of sleep disorder work experience. (Required)

  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) (Required)

  • Basic Life Support (Required Upon Hire)

Working Conditions

  • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).

  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.

  • Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.

  • Frequent reaching/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling/ grasping.

  • Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 20 lbs.

  • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 20 lbs. force. Occasional up to 30 lbs. force.

  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.

  • Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.

  • Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.

  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
