Clark College Part-time Instruction and Classroom Support Technician 1 – Tutoring Services in Vancouver, Washington

Clark College is currently accepting applications for two part-time, permanent hourly Classified Instruction and Classroom Support Technician 1 positions to work approximately 17 hours a week.  These positions support the Tutoring Services department by providing in-person tutoring and academic support to students.  The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday with flexible and varying hours depending on the needs of the department.

  • Tutor Clark College students in specified courses with emphasis on content as well as general study/organization/test-taking/goal-setting skills and techniques.
  • Assist in CLRA trainings as needed.
  • Participate in or complete specialized training.
  • Participate in staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

     

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:

Candidates will be evaluated based on application materials, including the supplemental questions and personal interview(s), and will be required to demonstrate competencies in the following areas:

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Six (6) months of relevant tutoring or teaching experience.

JOB READINESS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to assist in individual and group tutoring.
  • Ability to converse knowledgeably/fluently in the subject matter and/or language.
  • Demonstrated capacity to take on more responsibility, setting the tone in the center, and being a role model for tutoring staff.
  • The initial appointment will include a 6-month probationary period and the employee will earn permanent status after successfully completing probation. 
  • This position is represented by Washington Public Employees Association.
  • Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.

SALARY RANGE: $18.93 - $25.20/hour. | Range: 39 | Code: 255M

Successful candidates typically start at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases.
