Neil Jones Food Company Packaging Coordinator in Vancouver, Washington

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation's discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.  

 

We are looking for a Packaging Coordinator to be responsible for handling packaging and product requirements for branded and private label customers and channels. This role will be responsible for coordinating design, monitoring/executing required state and federal regulatory changes, including for fiber, film, and labels at our Northwest Packing plant in Vancouver, WA.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate all new packaging and revisions between Sales and Customers for all manufacturing plants; coordinates packaging revisions to plant personnel as required.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance of all changing FSMA and FDA labeling requirements in an evolving state and federal environment.
  • Manage procurement and inventory of fiber and labels.
  • Notify Sales group of pending or potential regulatory changes; requires a high level of collaboration with all levels, manufacturing plants, and the ability to problem solve, create, and direct plans.
  • Provide and coordinate data gathering of NLEA, CCOF, Sustainability, SQF, BPA, GMO, Halal, Quality, and Specification data upon customer requests.

     

Requirements:* *

  • Bachelor's degree in Sales & Marketing, Business, or Food Science preferred; Associate degree or higher-level course work.
  • At least 2 years of Quality Assurance, Regulatory, & Food Manufacturing experience or a combination thereof.
  • Experience in food labeling laws, regulatory, food manufacturing, food retail, and/or similar experience, including FDA and US Customs agencies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP system; PeopleSoft ERP experience preferred.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and work extended schedule and weekends during the fresh pack season, typically July to early November.

Compensation:

The wage range is $22 - $28, based on experience and qualifications.
