Clark College Director of Student Equity and Inclusion in Vancouver, Washington

Clark College is currently accepting applications for a full time, 12-month exempt Director of Student Equity and Inclusion position in the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. This position reports to the Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (VP of DEI) and will work in-person with the ability to work remotely one day a week.

 

The Director of Student Equity and Inclusion assists the college in creating a campus climate that is inclusive, culturally engaging, and anti-racist for all students, especially historically marginalized and underrepresented non-dominant populations. To that end, this position focuses on supporting equity at Clark College by providing strategic goals, guidance, advocacy, that improve student success and eliminate barriers to educational access. This is a key position at the College that will provide equity leadership and consultation to various departments, groups, and community partners. The person in this position will join a team of passionate, social-justice minded professionals and will interact with students, faculty, staff, and community members on a day-to-day basis.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Contribute to creating a supportive work environment that is proactively inclusive, equity-focused, anti-racist, and emphasizes collective and collaborative work of the department and the College.

Provide leadership in accordance with the Vision, Values, and Priorities established by the college to support the implementation of the Equity-Centered Strategic Plan and Guided Pathways Plan to improve enrollment, retention, and completion and transfer of historically underrepresented and underserved student groups.

Collaborate and communicate closely with the VP of DEI in the area of student equity and inclusion as related to strategic planning, program models, and priorities.

Collaborate with Clark College stakeholders to build and implement a program model for outreach and retention for student equity and inclusion, with measurable outcomes and assessment, to increase access to college and support the success of students of color and other systemically non-dominant student groups.

Collaborate with the VP of DEI, the Director of Employee Equity, Outreach and Engagement, Student Affairs, and the Office of Instruction to lead the work of legislative bills connected to anti-racist training for all degree-seeking students as required by Washington state.

Serve as an integral and engaged planning team member of the annual Northwest Regional Equity Conference (NWREC), actively participate in the facilitation of sessions, sub-committee meetings and planning sessions, and fundraising activities.

Lead and provide timely and accurate annual reporting on all student-focused diversity, equity and inclusion compliance requirements as related to DEI legislation (campus climate assessment, annual listening and feedback sessions, student mentoring program, diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racist programming for all-degree seeking students, etc.).

Provide oversight of the physical Diversity Center space to provide a clean and welcoming environment for inclusive programming for student groups and clubs, open houses, and community gatherings.

Collaborate with other departments and serve as a resource and support system for students from underrepresented background(s) and provide leadership and guidance to student groups focused on diversity and inclusion.

Knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices by keeping up to date with the latest research, trends to have a key understanding of frameworks, concepts and strategies linked to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
