PeaceHealth is seeking a Diet Representative Lead - Kitchen for a Per Diem/Relief, 0.00 FTE, Variable position. The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $20.65 – $30.97. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

Job Summary

Responsible for coordinating the day-to-day functions for assigned area. Assists with ensuring that departmental goals are achieved, timelines met and service excellence provided in all aspects of work. Subject matter expert.

Essential Functions

  • Assign work; plan and manage priorities, provide technical assistance, oversee staff schedules, monitor quality of work, monitor team projects, mentor staff, provide constructive feedback, oversee staff training, ensure quality improvement, provide leadership feedback on staff performance, and assist with goal setting for the team.

  • Process all diet orders (including tube feeding) received from nursing services in preparation for production, including entry of charges. May coordinate all food production information for kitchen staff.

  • Approve patient food request based on diet order and food availability. Determine needs of between meal nourishment and orders as needed.

  • Distribute appropriate menus for patients to select from. Assist patient with menu selections as needed.

  • Use approved computer charting methods to communicate clarification of individual patient needs related to food and to ensure meal tray accuracy and prompt delivery.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Advanced education with an emphasis on nutrition.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year Required: Experience in Diet Representative role or related experience.

  • Required: Understanding of diet types and food textures.

Credentials

  • Required: Food Handlers Card - Washington.

Skills

  • Ability to multi-task (Required)

  • Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English. (Required)

  • Proficient computer/keyboarding skills (Required)

  • Ability to work well with others (Required)

  • Strong customer service skills (Required)

  • Proficient in mathematics (Required)

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Cooks: Continuous moving around area. Lifting: Frequent up to 22 lbs. Occasional up to 50 lbs. Occasional carrying up to 20 lbs. Frequent reaching/ bending/ stooping/ grasping. Occasional squatting/kneeling. Frequent pushing/pulling 14 lbs. sustained force with frequent stop/start. Occasional repetitive push/pull (scrubbing grill/oven).

  • Diet Rep/Aide: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.

  • Food service asst.: Continuous moving around area. Lifting: Frequent up to 12 lbs. Occasional up to 44 lbs. Occasional carrying up to 25 lbs. Frequent reaching/ bending/ stooping, grasping. Occasional squatting/kneeling. Frequent pushing/pulling 30 lbs. sustained force with frequent stop/start.

  • Stores Coord Asst: Continuous moving around area. Lifting: Frequent up to 50 lbs. Occasional up to 35 lbs. Frequent reaching/ bending/ stooping/ grasping. Occasional squatting/kneeling .

Environmental Conditions

  • Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.

  • Working near/around heated surfaces (oven).

  • Working near/around water/liquid.

Mental/Visual

  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
