Actalent Controls Engineer in Vancouver, Washington

Description:

This position is responsible for control system designs for wood-fired energy systems, lumber dry kilns, and related products and services to the forest products industry. This position will interface directly with all levels of the company in the performance of assigned duties. Design control systems in compliance with contracts and all applicable codes and standards with an emphasis on plant and operator safety. • Compare, evaluate, select and configure electrical and electromechanical components. • Develop design and test PLC code and HMI screens. • Troubleshoot issues by phone, online, and on site. • Train plant personnel on proper operating procedures of Wellons installations. • Research new technologies to maintain Wellons’ leading position in the market place.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Preferred Skills and Experience: • Knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical and MS Office or similar. • Demonstrated proficiency with PLC and PC-based control systems and HMI’s. • Knowledge of PID and PI control theory, AC and DC drives and motors, servers. • Familiarity with NEC and electrical wiring practices. • Knowledge of OSHA Standards and plant safety. • Experience building and commissioning electrical control panels in accordance with UL508A. • Field experience with process industry, power distribution, and Cogeneration. • Professional experience with 3-Phase electrical systems, field devices and instrumentation. • International project experience. • Good understanding of computer and industrial networks. • Exposure to a wide variety of process machinery, industrial sensors, and equipment. • Experience solving complex problems with little to no supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated team. • EIT Certification preferred Additional Requirements: • Ability to travel up to 30% (domestically and internationally) and work hours outside of routine
