Under limited supervision, fabricates parts where set-ups are non-routine and tolerances are difficult to acquire and maintain. Operates and sets-up a variety of machine tool equipment to extremely close and complex tolerances. Reads and interprets blueprints, production diagrams and assembly drawings. Makes complex measurements and advanced shop math calculations relative to tolerances, dimensions, tooling, feed and speed. Inspects parts for precision using calipers, gauges, and other precision-measuring instruments. Prepares recommendations to modify shop processes relative to improved productivity and quality. Provides CNC programming support. Responsibilities: 'Minimum six (6) months experience operating CNC milling center 'Comfortable with interface and basic commands 'Comfortable with general machine controls to insure quality parts are produced safely 'Other duties as assigned 'Efficiently operates production machine tools to achieve Quality, Cost and Delivery targets 'Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining 'Performs general set-ups to ensure maximum machine utilization (run time) 'Visually inspects surfaces for flaws and smoothness 'Sweeps and cleans work area and equipment 'Uses established practices to ensure Quality during operation including documentation and techniques 'Program, set up, and operate CNC Milling machines, CNC lathes, manual milling machines, manual lathes 'Using inputs from engineering including drawings and instructions, create complex prototypes of orthopedic implants, instruments, etc 'Evaluates manufacturability of conceptual and preliminary designs developed by design team. Provides constructive suggestions as to how revise designs and define tolerances to make parts more manufacturable 'Use CAD prints to create complex computer aided/automated manufacturing (CAM) programs for various types of CNC machines 'Design and build fixtures and tooling devices for creating prototypes 'Works cross-functionally (with design engineers and machinists, for example) to optimize product designs and manufacturability 'Verify dimensions of parts for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, dial and digital calipers, veneer and thread gauges, go/no-go pins and other measuring tools and equipment 'Maintain strict confidentiality to protect product design activities and company intellectual properties 'Perform routine machine maintenance by following written instructions in adherence to the schedule established in the Company's ERP system 'Provide timely records and files with detailed design notes 'Approve and purchase consumables such as tooling and supplies as needed 'Assist in scheduling of incoming jobs as needed 'Work cohesively in a team environment Requirements: 'Must have basic writing and math skills with the skills to use a calculator and read a tape measure and Calipers 'Skills to do Offset G Code Changes at the Machine Job Location: Vancouver, WA Shift: Full Time - Swing Shift/Variable Notice: All
