Cleanroom Production Operator (300PW)

This Production Operator position takes place in a fast paced production environment working in a final inspection and quality control capacity for silicon wafer manufacturing. The work takes place in a cleanroom setting requiring operators to wear PPE including a hooded full-body cleanroom gown "bunny suit" with hairnet and/or beard net, safety glasses, mouth/nose cover, nylon/nitrile gloves, and chemical apron. The cleanroom work area is air conditioned and well ventilated but operators can be prone to getting hot throughout the day due to the cleanroom gown.

Operators work 12-hour Shifts, 6am to 6pm for Day Shift, or 6pm to 6am for Night Shift, on a compressed workweek, alternating 3-ON/4-OFF and 4-ON/3-OFF weekly schedules which require working every other weekend and will likely entail additional overtime days when needed. Night shifts receive an additional 15% shift differential pay incentive.

Operators are involved in and responsible for following complex, detailed procedures and to complete documentation per specifications in a fast paced environment to meet daily targets on time and without defect. They will be cross trained to eventually become certified to rotate among multiple process areas within the department, including Automated Cleanlines, LPD, Visual Inspection, Lot Compiling, Packaging, and Box Wash. They will ensure polished wafers are processed according to specific customer requirements contained in computerized/paper work orders.

Additional Essential Job Functions and requirements include:

PHYSICAL:

  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, lift, and reach as needed to move boxes of wafers from inventory location to transport cart and from transport cart to automated process equipment

  • Must be able to push, pull, guide transport cart through doorways, hallways.

  • Availability to work all hours, all shifts, and over time as required or as requested

  • Must be able to work in close proximity with other team members working in the same area and/or work alone in specific areas

  • Attendance and compliance with advance notice and call in policies for absences in this manufacturing area is critical

  • Able to stand for long periods of time within a 12 hour shift

  • Ability to work around hazardous and volatile chemicals

  • Exerts up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and between 10-20 lbs. of force frequently to move objects and be walking, standing, and/or in motion while performing these tasks

  • Pushes a cart on wheels weighing approx. 20 lbs., and occasionally up to approx. 400 lbs.

  • Exerts pressure on robotic equipment buttons and levers

  • Repetitive opening and closing of wafer cassettes at waist level, placing on a cart, at every process step

  • Repetitive hand movement/wrist action in packaging (sealing finished product)

  • Fine motor skills required for cassette and wafer handling to ensure wafers do not come in contact with cleanroom uniform, gloves and mechanical equipment.

COGNITIVE:

  • Perform daily monitors for each process tool and verify all monitor data meets process specifications before releasing tool to production

  • Continuously monitor, analyze, and verify that all data and all processes are correct and meet quality specifications before moving material to the next process step

  • Operate robotic or automated equipment to load, unload, wafers, tools, and/or other equipment

  • Respond and trouble shoot tool alarms

  • Perform tasks to clean equipment and the area to meet standards for each manufacturing process

  • Must be able to multi-task and monitor the movement of wafers on multiple tool sets at the same time

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, compute percentages and decimals using a calculator, Excel software, or other method.

VISUAL ACUITY:

  • Must be able to work in an environment with varied lighting conditions due to the inspection tool criteria

  • Able to visually inspect finished box to ensure no pen marks, particles, scratches or smudges, the date time stamp is not expired, and that wafers are aligned and not cross-indexed

  • Visually verify precise alignment of wafers (not cross indexed) post final inspection by visually looking thru an opaque or a clear lid, and sealed in a plastic bag

  • Count wafers in each box to ensure they match the quantity stated on the work order and on the box label at load and unload points of each operation

  • When manually placing cassette on tool, must visually verify cassette is placed on tool properly and is placed on the designated station in the designated position

  • Verify packaging specification by use and viewing of computerized work order and visual guides regarding proper label placement.

QUALITY:

  • Follows all documented training, procedures, and processes to meet quality standards

  • Reports and takes action to prevent variations, errors, or lapses in quality

  • Ensures quality issues are reported, corrected, and not repeated

  • Identifies and reports suggestions for improvement to supervisor or other appropriate manager

SAFETY:

  • Completes all tasks using safe behaviors

  • Puts safety first and foremost and never puts safety after deadlines, other goals, or tasks

  • Acts as a role model in safety with co-workers.

  • Must be highly safety cautious as operators can be subjected to hazards including working in close proximity to moving mechanical parts

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Use a computer keyboard to input data into Excel, track and confirm each process, and complete computerized forms

  • Experienced, proficient, and accurate in the use of a computer, keyboard, and a monitor. - Experience in software use, such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook e-mail, or other similar software is desired

  • Can operate a calculator, copier, cell phone, and telephone.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Must have ability to communicate effectively in English with management and co-workers

  • Must have ability to read and write in English

  • Ability to create, read, comprehend, and explain instructions, procedures, technical and informational manuals, reports, correspondence for self and for others written in English.
