Summary of Duties

 

The Access Center Manager provides campus strategy, leadership, and training to support the full participation for students with disabilities in the academic and co-curricular environment. Pursuant to the American with Disabilities Act (1990) and Section504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Manager, along with their staff, leads the campus process to review documentation, assign and implement reasonable accommodations, and evaluates the effectiveness of accommodations to ensure academic and technical standards are met. The Access Center Manager develops and leads faculty, staff, and student training on processes, policies, and supports the goals of the institution for a more inclusive and accessible built and virtual environment.

 

The Manager supervises the work of the ASL Interpreter Coordinator, Alternative Testing Assistant, and part-time student employees. This position works with disability resources personnel university-wide on policy development, implementation, and interpretation and consults as necessary on individual student accommodations. This position is responsible for providing direct service to students, including meeting individually with prospective and current students to evaluate disability documentation and determine eligibility as well as to discuss and implement appropriate accommodations and services.

 

Finally, this position tracks aspects of disability services including disability documentation, interpreter requests, furniture requirements, and special requests.

Required Qualifications

 

Positions require a Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. Experience leading or directing the work of others. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one(1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

Experience interpreting and applying American with Disabilities Act, 504 Guidelines, and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
