This recruitment will remain open until filled. Applicants who apply prior to August 11, 2024, will get first consideration. The hiring manager reserves the right to make a hiring decision at any time during the recruitment process.    The Opportunity: As a Contract Specialist 2, you will play a critical role in ensuring DRS contracts are accurate, up to date, and well managed to ensure timely payments, renewals and amendments, data security, and appropriate compliance. You will work with outside agencies on annual reporting and with DRS team members to prepare contracts and ensure complete statements of work and compensation terms.   Some of what you'll do:

  • Ensuring the Enterprise Contracts Management System (ECMS) is up to date with contracts and amendments. 
  • Preparing contracts using DRS templates and conducting contract negotiations.  
  • Developing purchasing agreements/statements of work in support of purchasing through master contracts. 
  • Working with DRS vendors to provide guidance and education for subcontractor reporting requirements and ensuring contract forecasting and outreach efforts are current.
  • Analyzing contract terms and recommending contract renewals and amendments to the Contract Manager, PMO Director and contract administrators.  
  • Coordinating with agency contract owners to ensure complete statements of work and compensation terms  
  • Coordinating vendor onboarding activities including facilitating the signature of vendor access agreements and coordinating IT security training.   

*NOTE: * After successful completion of the review period and effectively demonstrating the ability to perform work independently, you may be eligible to telework up to two days per week, at the discretion of the Appointing Authority and with a telework agreement in place. The ability to work remotely is dependent on the nature of the tasks and projects assigned and the presence of a remote work environment that is safe and has an appropriate level of reliable connectivity. You must live within a reasonable commuting distance (less than 50 straight-line miles) to the DRS building in Tumwater, WA, and must be willing to adjust your telework schedule to attend mandatory meetings, trainings, etc., at the DRS facility.  

Qualifications

*What we're looking for (required qualifications):*  **

  • Demonstrated experience administering the acquisition of goods or services contracts that may include: compliance with state and federal laws and regulations as a primary function; use of state or federal laws/regulations governing contracts and agreements; AND use of contract principles, theory and application, contracts terminology and development, and contract practices and procedures. This is typically gained through at least three (3) years of professional experience;
  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel (specifically for spreadsheet tasks and database management);
