Our goal is to provide strategic communications guidance, create engaging content and stories about programs, projects, events, and actions taken by City, and engage a growing and diverse community. It's a Great Opportunity This position helps tell stories about the City’s work to engage the community in projects and services that directly affect their life. You will work with diverse groups from agencies and businesses, to residents and key stakeholders. As a Communications team member, you will create and implement community engagement strategies, outreach events, activities, and projects. Additionally, you will work on the website, manage social media channels, and develop content for brochures, logos, annual reports, signage, ads, surveys, editorial and promotional materials designed to educate, inform, and engage stakeholders and community members. A variety of work assignments creates a dynamic and fast-paced environment. About You Our preferred candidate will have 4+ years of experience in communications and community engagement. In addition, the successful candidate will have: *A commitment to the communications and engagement profession and the role of specialists in facilitating connections between departments and the community; and *A willingness and desire to learn about and work in a variety of practices areas; and *A desire to gain exposure to a wide range of experiences and facets of the profession; *A belief in the value of teamwork and demonstrated ability to collaborate, learn and think creatively when working with a range of people and perspectives. Your Future The Communications Manager and City departments you support will work together to provide you real-time training opportunities alongside other experienced teammates. There will be additional educational opportunities through the Communications department, including training on the CMS publishing platform, listserv and social media scheduling software, and IAP2.
