The Boeing Company Test & Evaluation Engineer in Tukwila, Washington
This position is for an experienced Flight Test Engineer to lead and support the full portfolio of mission systems development, upgrade and sustainment for Boeing Defense military programs at the Military Delivery Center, Tukwila, WA.
The engineer is a member of Boeing Test & Evaluation, responsible to the Program for planning and execution of system-level tests. Maintains readiness for test via flight qualifications, training, and technical expertise in military sensor systems.
Responsible for leading test teams, writing test plans and directives, test article preparation, and leading successful test conduct. Performs duties as a leader of a lab, ground or flight test crew.
Reports test results in real time or formally in test reports at the conclusion of test events. A successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to train others and work under minimal direction.

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Basic Qualifications (Required):
This position may fly onboard a test aircraft . This requires candidates: a) To maintain a FAA class 3 flight physical. b) To complete training in full flight gear (helmet, gloves, boots, flight suit, parachute harness and survival vest). Training includes a surface swim, treading water, drown proofing, egress underwater swim, orally inflating a life vest, and a hypobaric chamber flight. c) To meet seat safety requirements, candidates must not exceed 250lbs.
Travel 25% of the time is required for this role.
This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
Previous qualification operating military mission systems onboard military aircraft.
Previous experience in flight test engineering supporting military aircraft test programs.
