The Boeing Company is seeking an

Experienced Manufacturing Engineer

located in

Tukwila, WA

to join the Phantom Works team.  This position will support multiple Phantom Works programs based in the Puget Sound area. 

The ideal candidate for this position will have technical experience across multiple areas of manufacturing engineering planning including: structures and mechanisms, mechanical, and electrical systems. The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for authoring and updating Work Instructions, and 3D Model Based Work Instructions (MBIs). Experience working with CATIA V5 and PDM tools such as TeamCenter and ENOVIA is a plus. Phantom Works supports a variety of programs ranging from technology development to initial production, and as such is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with experience in multiple activities including implementation of design for manufacturing, development of cost-reduction redesign opportunities, and incorporation of engineering changes. The ideal candidate will have strong balance between technical skills, and strength in communications, presentation, creativity, vision, and work ethic. Experience with Full Size Determinant Assembly (FSDA) is a plus.

Position Responsibilities Include:

Develop and implement production and tooling methodologies

Participate on Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to integrate technical solutions across multiple disciplines

Develop, identify and implement conceptual designs and maintain the program architecture for build

Lead and implement manufacturing plans

Conduct producibility and variation analyses to ensure that manufacturing process capability matches requirements

Assist in providing producibility information for inclusion in project plans and helps document producibility best practices

Analyze design/build concepts to evaluate producible design/build definitions

Resolve technical problems of significant impact to performance, cost or schedule

Coordinate and implement new engineering principles, theories, advanced technologies and concepts

Validate and ensure production readiness of solutions to complex problems

Implement lean principles and technologies

This position requires an active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

3+ years of experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems common image (MESci)

3+ years of experience in production systems such as Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Teamcenter Product Data Management (PDM), and Unigraphics (UG)

3+ years of experience in CAD systems (CATIA/UG)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Experience with Full Sized Determinant Assembly (FSDA) implementation

Experience supporting both Development and Production programs

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.


This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.  Basic relocation is available for internal candidates
