This position is open until filled; however, to ensure consideration applications should be submitted by August 26th, 2024, at 4:30 p.m.      The Role Join us as the Emergency Preparedness Manager, a newly-created position that will manage dynamic and essential functions related to disaster readiness, business continuity, and resilience. In this full-time role, you'll lead a coordinated and comprehensive approach that addresses relevant hazards, vulnerabilities, and recovery processes. You'll collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners in city, county, and state governments, social service agencies, and others. You will be part of a risk management team that includes a Risk Management Analyst and a Safety Officer. The work will be performed under the general direction of the Risk & Support Services Manager, who reports to the Vice President of Support Services. Essential Functions

The Emergency Preparedness Manager will: 

Develop and manage a sustainable Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan in collaboration with the Risk & Support Services Manager, the Vice President of Support Services, Vice President of Safety & Security, and all agency departments.

Create education and training modules for executive leaders, supervisors/managers, and staff at the Central Office and property sites across King County. Consult with property managers, internal stakeholders, and staff on site-level preparedness.

Working closely with executive leaders, senior staff, and safety and security personnel to lead regular drills, exercises, and tabletop exercises. 

Provide briefings and reports to executive and senior staff.

Maintain awareness of hazards and threats in Western Washington and advises KCHA leaders on improvements that can increase agency resilience during and after an emergency.

Represent KCHA in meetings with city, county, state and FEMA Region 10 emergency management personnel; actively collaborates with other housing authorities and local governments to improve community-wide coordination and response to incidents and events.

Maintain Emergency Operations Center (EOC) resource readiness, including documentation of roles and responsibilities of personnel, training, technology, and communication plans.

Assist the Risk & Support Services Manager and the Vice President of Support Services in implementing and managing continuous improvement efforts and projects in alignment with the agency's enterprise risk management framework.

Collaborate with the agency's Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging to ensure that differences in culture, language, and communication and learning styles do not create barriers, but are maximized as assets for the agency's emergency preparedness.

Support and lead risk management and process improvement projects.

Cross train and provide back-up for various expert functions within the Support Services Department.
