Aerotek CNC Lathe Machinist in Tukwila, Washington
Lathe Machinist working strictly on CNC Lathes. Set up of manual and CNC machining equipment. Collaborate with engineering to prototype new designs. Reviews set-up sheet and specifications to determine set-up procedures, machining sequence, and dimensions of finished parts. Layout and program equipment, as needed. Select the best tooling to be used, given the work material and machining method for the particular job. Assemble cutting tools in tool holders and positions tool holders in machine spindles as specified or insert cutting tools in specified machine magazines. Maximize equipment capability by calculating optimum feeds and speeds. Manipulate controls and enter commands to index cutting tool to specified set point and to start machine. Observe and listen to machine operation to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools. Change cutting tools and location of work piece during machining process to achieve desired results. Grind worn tools. Measure work piece for conformance to specifications. Perform advanced machine maintenance activities. Troubleshoot problems, using machining practices and principles. Notifies supervisor of machine repair needs. Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and orderly workstation and perform basic machine upkeep, such as wiping down outside surface of machine, lubrication, etc. May train other operators.
