Position Description
Tacoma Public Utilities Power Management division is looking for a Term Energy Trader to join their team. Track and understand the impacts of these changes to our wholesale trading. Determine optimal wholesale trading strategies to best take advantage and/or mitigate the impacts of market changes. Actively contribute to high level thinking around energy markets, customer needs, and our business’s strategy. Advocate for Tacoma Power’s interests in regional forums and wholesale energy trading organizations.
Lead the deal origination and structuring function. Identify, develop, and value non-standard wholesale products that Tacoma Power can offer from our carbon-free hydroelectric portfolio. Develop strong professional relationships with counterparties and negotiate mutually beneficial deals. Keep abreast of industry trends and new products that are needed in the region.
Develop a thorough understanding of the volatility and uncertainty of managing a resource portfolio that is predominately hydroelectric and customer loads that are highly variable and weather dependent. Use this knowledge to proactively refine wholesale trading strategies.
