A Sr. Payroll Specialist job in Tacoma, WA is available at Milgard Windows and Doors. You should have a bachelor’s degree with two to four years of relevant work experience. In this role, you will support the overall Human Resources function and Milgard through payroll preparation, processing, reporting, compliance, and administration. The salary for this role is dependent on experience. Sr. Payroll Specialist job responsibilities include:

  • Work with cross-functional teams who impact the payroll process through collaboration and support the drive for improvement through business process reviews or technical solutions. Your foundation in payroll concepts, HR, HR systems, time, and attendance administration, pay calculations, excel, data analysis, and metrics gathering are key to the successful execution of this role.

  • Support the overall Human Resources function and Milgard through payroll preparation, processing, reporting, compliance, administration. This role will be in the Corporate HR team, reporting to the Payroll Manager, and will partner with HRBPs, HR Reps, and Payroll Clerks in locations.

  • Promote a positive, inclusive, learning and supportive work environment

  • Assures the accuracy and integrity of all payroll data documentation, including policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with wage and hour and regulatory reporting requirements.

  • Prepare, audit, and process bi-weekly payrolls by established deadlines

  • Assist with year-end payroll processing/reporting.

  • Familiarity with the processing of wage garnishments, tax levies, and child support orders

  • Process forms of electronic data via the HRIS for human resources functional areas, advise Manager of significant errors or inconsistencies

  • Answer routine inquiries involving the collection, verification, and/or dissemination of human resources information on various topics such as records, wages, and policies and procedures

  • Manage HR team member security

  • Assists with the administration of the collection of premiums and record-keeping for team members with in-active employment status and on unpaid leaves

  • Assist Milgard and MI Windows in completing benefits reporting requirements

  • Monitor daily benefits enrollments/changes for accuracy

  • Integration with Finance and HR for ad hoc reporting and problem-solving

  • Communicates with Payroll Manager as necessary to resolve escalated payroll and benefit Issues

  • Responds to inquiries regarding payroll practices, procedures, programs, benefits, etc.

  • Assists in the development and presentation of payroll training to the HR team

  • Partners with HRBPs to ensure compliance with federal, state and company standards

  • Maintains current knowledge of industry trends and practices regarding payroll compliance, reporting, filing, taxation, etc.

  • Identify new opportunities or gaps in current processes/practices and work with others to implement improvements

  • General administrative duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual talent with proficiency in Spanish and English is preferred

  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills

  • Bachelor's Degree with two to four years of relevant work experience

  • Three years’ experience with multi-state payroll administration, California experience preference

  • Comprehensive understanding of federal wage and hour laws and payroll practices

  • Experience working with an integrated payroll or human resources management system software application is required, Paylocity experience preferred

  • Experience with payroll processing audits

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Knowledge of time and attendance systems preferred.

  • Familiarity with Human Resources procedures and record-keeping practices are preferred

  • Ability to manage multiple work streams with competing priorities

  • Ability to successfully meet deadlines while planning/managing your workload

  • Team player with experience working in a collaborative work environment

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
